Central Bow Valley School graduating class of 2009
Jennifer Bertsch, associate principal, Central Bow Valley School
Central Bow Valley School has seen its last high school graduation.
Trustees with the Golden Hills School Division have voted to close the school’s high school program. As of September, high school students will attend the new East Wheatland School. Central Bow Valley School’s kindergarten to Grade 9 program will continue. So, it was with both sadness and joy that Central Bow Valley School’s last Grade 12 students graduated on May 15.
Over the past 14 years, the school has served Cluny, Gleichen and the Siksika First Nation. We are proud that our school is now 70 per cent First Nations. We have had many successes. As you can see in the photo, almost half of the students graduating are First Nations. In the last three years, we have had 28 graduates, 13 of whom have been First Nations students. We’re proud of our students’ accomplishments and sad to say goodbye to a wonderful program.
