Westglen walks!

On October 8, Edmonton’s Westglen School and community participated in International Walk to School Day to promote fitness and the environmental benefits of walking.

Westglen school staff, students, parents, community members, students from surrounding schools and mascots (including Niska, the Safe and Caring Schools and Communities Goose) participated in the event. A rally featured the cheer team from Ross Sheppard High School and various mascots led by students from Westmount Junior High School.

Canada held its first national Walk a Child to School Day in 1998. In 2000, the first International Walk to School day was launched. Today, schools from every province and territory join millions all over the world as they walk to school.
