Greens win mock election

Grande Prairie students count votes cast during Student Vote 2008.

The Green Party of Canada was the clear favourite of students participating in Grande Prairie’s Student Vote 2008. Grande Prairie Composite High School’s social studies department conducted Student Vote 2008 on October 9. Thirty-seven per cent of the student body cast ballots for Peace River riding candidates. Student Vote, sponsored by Elections Canada and the CBC, featured replicas of cardboard polling stations, ballot forms and posters advertising candidates. The simulated vote provided students with an opportunity to experience voting first-hand.
