By-election called

District Representative for South West Geographic District

An ATA by-election, necessitated by the resignation of P.E. Atkinson, will be held for the office of District Representative South West Geographic District. The term of office is from January 1, 2009, to June 30, 2009.

A call for nominations, including election information and nomination forms, will be mailed to all school representatives and local secretaries within the district on October 8, 2008.

Nominations for this position will be accepted up to November 21, 2008.

Candidates will be introduced and their campaign information disseminated by way of a special school mailing on November 26, 2008.

Ballots will be mailed to all eligible voters on or before December 4, 2008. Any eligible voter who does not receive a ballot may, no later than December 8, 2008, apply to the ATA executive secretary for same. If such a person is found to be eligible to vote and completes the proper declaration, a ballot will be provided to that member.

Ballots must be returned in the envelopes provided and can either be

1. given to school representatives no later than December 13, 2008, or

2. mailed directly to P.O. Box 1000, Edmonton, AB, to arrive before 9 a.m., December 22, 2008.

The South West Geographic District includes all schools situated within the following locals:

1. Holy Spirit Catholic No. 5

2. Horizon No. 4

3. Lethbridge Public School No. 41

4. Livingstone Range No. 14

5. Palliser No. 19

6. Westwind No. 12

Active and associate members of these locals, as of September 30, 2008, are eligible to vote in this by-election.
