Grand Prairie Composite High School’s envirothon team finished 15th out of 53 teams (9 Canadian and 44 U.S. teams) at the Canon International Envirothon competition, held in Geneva, New York, in July and August. The Canon Envirothon is an annual competition in which teams compete for recognition and scholarships by demonstrating their knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management. The teams, each consisting of five high school-aged students, use their problem-solving skills in a competition centred on four universal testing categories (soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry and wildlife) and a current environmental issue.
