Twenty-three teachers were honoured for their contributions to education during an awards ceremony in Edmonton on May 12.
"Alberta has some of the best teachers in the world, and the Excellence in Teaching Awards Program provides us with a wonderful way to publicly recognize the excellent work being done by these teachers," Education Minister Ron Liepert said.
Excellence in Teaching Awards finalists were chosen from 320 eligible teachers. Since the award program’s inception in 1989, almost 8,000 teachers have been nominated and 400 have been award recipients.
