According to a Japanese government survey, 96 per cent of the country’s high school students own cellphones. The survey found that girls spend an average of 125 minutes a day on their phones and boys spend 90. One-third of elementary students own cellphones, but telecommunications companies are hoping to increase this percentage by introducing phones with software that features picture books.
