Media Awareness Network (MNet) has launched two new professional development programs for teachers.
Deconstructing Online Hate addresses hate and the topics of bias, racism and propaganda. The resource is designed to help teachers respond to issues of online hate by developing web smarts and critical thinking skills. The resource features a PD workshop and self-directed tutorial, resource and facilitator’s guides, lesson plans for Grades 8-12 and an interactive student module.
Exploring Media & Race investigates how minorities are represented and portrayed in the media. The resource examines the steps taken by Canadian media to become more diverse and inclusive. A workshop, self-directed tutorial, resource and facilitator’s guides and lesson plans for Grades 7–12 are included. MNet is a bilingual, non-profit organization dedicated to media education in Canadian schools, homes and communities.
