Alberta Teachers Responding to Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Pandemic Research Survey Study

COVID-19 has had a profound and rapid impact on public education systems around the world. Alberta teachers have been agile in their response to the cancellation of face-to-face classes by swiftly transitioning to emergency remote learning.

We know that this has had significant impacts on the profession and our public schools.

To understand these impacts, the Alberta Teachers' Association has undertaken a large-scale research study to gather the perspectives, questions, concerns and interests of our members. We collected over 8000 responses from across the province.

The initial report focuses on five key areas:

  • Well-being
  • Equity
  • Technology use and online instruction
  • Pedagogical practices and the profession of teaching
  • Return to public school buildings

Our goal with this research is to help inform a safe return to public schools across the province. Download the full preliminary analysis and report.
