On June 6, 1,000 students from Medicine Hat High School, in Medicine Hat, formed the number 125 to promote the 125th anniversary of the Medicine Hat School District.

On September 22, 1886, ratepayers of the unincorporated village of Medicine Hat elected the first trustees of the newly formed school district. Since then, the school district has worked to improve the living and learning relationships for students of Medicine Hat.
