Albertans can share their fiscal ideas with the government by visiting a website that’s been set up to gather comments for the 2015 budget, which is expected to be finalized this fall, and the 2016 budget.
“I want to hear Albertans’ thoughts and ideas on how the government can improve their quality of life and build our economy,” said Finance Minister Joe Ceci in a prepared statement. “These discussions will help outline both this year’s and next year’s budgets to better reflect the priorities of all Albertans as we move forward.”
Website submissions will be accepted at budget.alberta.ca until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14.
Ceci will be meeting with businesses, organizations and stakeholders throughout August and September to discuss how to innovate and diversify the economy, and protect important public services. Cabinet members will also be meeting with a cross-section of stakeholders, including agriculture, forestry, oil and gas, the non-profit sector and aboriginal leaders to gather feedback on the upcoming budgets.
Albertans will be able to speak directly to Ceci during two telephone town halls that are being organized for early September. The details of these will be released closer to September. ❚
