How is the implementation of Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) working for you and your students?

Alberta Teacher: The results will never be accurate as students all react differently to computer testing and it is not a true measure of what they really know. How about asking the teachers to report where each child is at based on their own daily work observations and assignments?
Another Alberta Teacher: Work & life balance? I will have to get back to you on that, after I’ve had the chance to use the rubrics to grade each student’s literacy and numeracy performance tasks (the numeracy rubric, alone, has you selecting 23 out of a possible 115 descriptors for each child in your class).
Tim Bowman: We have 120 Grade 3s piloting the SLAs on Chromebooks. One student was able to complete with no issues. The others had difficulty when attempting to submit the assessment.
CleftBag: Based on the amount of time it’s taking, what are we going to do in a few years when our 3s, 6s and 9s have to write?
Rachel: We have invested a great deal of time into preparing to conduct the assessment and then conducting it. After two hours we have finished the digital literacy component. We look forward to the performance tasks in literacy and the numeracy in both the digital and the performance. I am very grateful for the extra two weeks.
