Conference seeks speakers

Organizers of the annual conference of the English as a Second Language Council are inviting prospective keynotes, session speakers and presenters to submit a proposal for My Language ... My Endless Horizon, the 2015 conference scheduled for Oct. 29 to 31 at the Delta Lodge Kananaskis.

Campaign underway to establish emergency education fund

A World at School is joining with other education campaigners to call for a special fund for education in emergencies so that education can resume quickly after it has been disrupted by a natural disaster. The organization has a petition aimed at ensuring that all children everywhere can have access to education, with the intention of taking it to a global summit in Norway. Award program launched for everyday eco-heroes

Do you know someone in your community who is taking heroic action to support a healthier environment? Nominations are now being accepted for Earth Day Canada’s Hometown Heroes Award program, which recognizes and celebrates environmental leaders, groups and small businesses that foster meaningful, long-term community awareness and action.

The Hometown Heroes program has cash prizes available in four award categories: youth, individual, group and small business. More information and nomination packages are available at
