Albertans have until October 31 to have their say for Budget 2013

The province is asking Albertans for specific priorities they’d like to see in next year’s provincial budget.
Public open houses will take place across Alberta October 4–13: Calgary, Drumheller, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Bonnyville, Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray and Edmonton. People attending the sessions will be guided through a series of questions that will help the province gather feedback on Albertans’ priorities for next year’s budget. Alberta Finance Minister Doug Horner and Associate Minister of Finance Kyle Fawcett will attend each event.
Albertans unable to attend an open house can complete an online survey that asks the same questions that will be discussed at the open houses. The budget survey and other background information are available at www.dollarsandsense.alberta.ca. Albertans may also still complete the fiscal framework survey at the same website. Both surveys close October 31.
For more information about the survey, teachers are encouraged to read the ATA News editorial of September 25, 2012, “Think like owners, again.”
