An innovative computer program is on the verge of hitting the one million mark. This fall, the Computers for Schools (CFS) program will celebrate the delivery of one million computers since the program began in 1993. The national program is a cross-Canada partnership of the federal and provincial governments and the private and volunteer sectors. In 2008 alone, Alberta CFS distributed more than 14,000 free computers. A new feature this year is the Home Access initiative, whereby schools can obtain computers to distribute to students for home. Equipment is provided on a first-come first-served basis, so schools should apply now. For more information, contact the CFS. Website:
