Project Overseas

Project Overseas is in its 38th year of operation. The program involves Canadian teachers volunteering their time and talents in developing countries. Its aims are to help raise the academic and professional qualifications of teachers in those countries, to help these teachers strengthen their professional organizations and to promote understanding and goodwill.

Canadian teachers consider it a great privilege to work closely with their colleagues in other countries; they say that they gain as much as they give during their time overseas. Project Overseas is financed by the Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA), the Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF), the Alberta Wild Rose Foundation, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and other provincial and territorial teacher organizations.
