Teachers elected in local elections

The following teachers/retired teachers are known to have been elected in local elections held across Alberta on October 19, 1998.

Bryan Anderson, a retired teacher, was elected as councillor for the city of Edmonton.

Ray Bryant, principal of L.J. Westlake Elementary School in Taber, was re-elected for a fourth term as councillor for the town of Taber.

Bill Elliot, principal of Centennial School in Wetaskiwin, was elected as councillor for the city of Wetaskiwin.

Lillian Machacek, a retired teacher, was re-elected for a third term as Holy Spirit Division school trustee.

Ron Patsula, Jim Shinkaruk and Ron Zapisocki were elected as separate school trustees for the city of Edmonton.

Kathleen Sanderson, a retired teacher, was elected as a school trustee for the Horizon School Division in Taber.

Ron Young was re-elected as a councillor for the town of Cold Lake.
