The staff of St. Michael’s School, in Pincher Creek, returned to school after the Thanksgiving long weekend to find their staff room completely made over.
Teachers were greeted by members of the school council and other parent volunteers, who then unveiled their enormous, yet surprisingly clandestine, project. The makeover involved painting walls, building new cupboards and providing new furnishings—such as a dishwasher; stools and lounging chairs; paintings and wall hangings; and coordinated cushions, fabrics and table coverings. All materials and furnishings were donated or provided at nominal cost.
To say that the staff were overwhelmed is an understatement. Most were speechless. Everyone was moved by the generosity demonstrated by so many people and organizations, both in donations and in the many hours of volunteer work, completed by 26 people during their Thanksgiving holidays.
Thanks to them, our staff room has been transformed into a warm, inviting, tastefully appointed and beautifully furnished gathering place that inspires and uplifts everyone.
St. Michael’s staff have always greatly appreciated the support and volunteer spirit of the school council and parent community. However, this work has really exceeded our expectations. Words seem inadequate to express our gratitude for such a tangible and thoughtful expression of support and consideration. It is one that will be cherished and enjoyed for years to come.
