Highlights of the Provincial Executive Council meeting held Dec. 4–5, 2014, at Barnett House in Edmonton
Approved the expenditure of $3,500 from the international assistance periodic budget to support teachers affected by the Ebola crisis in West Africa.
Approved the 2015/16 program area budget recommendations and referred them to Finance Committee for costing.
Directed that associate members who work in bargaining units, such as private and charter schools for which the Association holds the bargaining certificate and in which an initial collective agreement has been achieved, receive, as part of their ATA membership fee, membership in a specialist council of their choice.
Directed that the Association celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2017–18, beginning at the 2017 Annual Representative Assembly and culminating with the 2018 Summer Conference.
Directed that 22 policies developed by the Blue Ribbon Panel on Inclusive Education in Alberta be forwarded to the Resolutions Committee for inclusion in the package of resolutions to be debated at the 2015 Annual Representative Assembly.
Approved the frame of reference for the Economic Policy Committee of the Southern Francophone Education Region No. 4 (Conseil Scolaire FrancoSud No. 4).
Revised the terms of reference of the Communications, Advocacy and Public Education Committee to more actually capture the range of activities that the committee undertakes.
Approved an overexpenditure from the public education promotion budget to enable the Association to purchase promotional materials, both French and English, to be distributed to members at teachers’ conventions in 2015.
Authorized an expenditure from the capital fund to purchase new furnishings for the district representative workroom.
Repealed an Administrative Guideline that allows Council members to claim the difference between the costs of commercial automobile insurance and the cost of personal automobile insurance.
Directed that the Association sign an agreement with Xerox Canada Ltd. for the lease over five years of a new colour press.
