About the ATA News

What Is The ATA News?

The ATA News (ISSN 0001-267X) is published 15 times during the school year by The Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA).

With a circulation of 42,500, The ATA News has the largest circulation of any educational newspaper in the province of Alberta. It is sent to teachers, school administrators, trustees, students in the faculties of education, government employees and retired teachers. In addition, libraries and educational institutions around the world subscribe to the News.

Articles and editorial material reflect ATA policy. Acceptance of an advertisement does not imply ATA endorsement.

The ATA News is a member of the Canadian Educational Press Association and the Educational Press Association of America.

How do I subscribe?

ATA members receive The ATA News and The ATA Magazine without charge. The combined subscription for nonmembers is $25 (Alberta), $37 (Canada), $46 (United States) and $57 (International). A subscription application form is available. Subscriptions are valid for one year from the month in which the application is received. Please make cheques or money orders payable to The Alberta Teachers’ Association.

How can I contribute?

Letters to the editor are welcome. The ATA News reserves the right to edit letters for length. Letters must be signed and sent to The Editor, The ATA News.

The ATA News also welcomes articles from its readers. The ATA News reports on legislation affecting teachers and education, features teacher activities and achievements and covers issues influencing education provincially, nationally and internationally. Articles should not exceed 500 words and should be typed and double-spaced. Articles are evaluated for originality, readability, soundness of content and interest to teachers. The editors reserve the right to edit any article for publication. Send articles to The Editor, The ATA News.

In addition to accepting letters and articles, The ATA News also welcomes photographs of teacher, student and school activities. Photographs that depict action are best. Ensure that photographs are sharply focused and include a caption and the names of photographers and contacts.
